Our history
Osteria Angelino
since 1899
The history of Osteria Angelino began in 1899, when it was founded just steps away from Piazza Vittorio Emanuele, near one of the city's great markets.
In the 1930s, Angelo Potetti acquired the restaurant, taking over its management.
By the late 1950s, Angelo handed over the establishment to his daughter Ilde, who became the face of Osteria Angelino for over 45 years.
At the age of 84, Ilde passed the baton to her son Stefano. After a few years, the restaurant was sold, but the family tradition continued thanks to one of the cousins accepting the challenge, supported by two friends. Thus, the Angelino Bros were born.
A reference point
Osteria Angelino remains a reference point for Roman cuisine. Originally located in the heart of the Esquilino neighborhood, near the Colosseum, San Giovanni in Laterano, and Santa Maria Maggiore, until 2013.
In 2015, it changed location and moved to a new venue, just steps away from the Colosseum, on Capo d’Africa.
In 2020, the restaurant changed ownership again. It underwent a profound restyling and renewed its original format, introducing elements of "contemporary Roman cuisine".
In Milan, Osteria Angelino opened its doors at the end of 2014.
In 2020, this location also changed ownership. Adjacent premises were acquired, doubling the seating capacity both indoors and outdoors, and a profound restyling project was launched, continuing until 2023.
Today, in 2023, Osteria Angelino is a brand that brings Roman cuisine across Italy, with one location in Rome and two in Milan, and who knows where tomorrow.
Osteria Angelino today
Rome and Milan have the pleasure of hosting the Roman cuisine of Osteria Angelino in three different locations.
